Since the WBM community votes on an upcoming issue’s theme in advance, there is more time to work on a cover than other kinds of submissions. The theme for Volume 7 Issue 3 is Historical Worldbuilding: How worldbuilding has changed across time. To illustrate the cover, artists therefore submit a thumbnail concept and their portfolio. After the Art Department reviews submissions, one artist is chosen to illustrate the cover and to flesh out the concept they submitted.
